Fattori psicologici associati all’esordio e al mantenimento della sindrome da burnout tra i Sacerdoti

Resumen

Il ruolo delle variabili individuali nel predire l’emergere del burnout tra i sacerdoti è stato spesso tralasciato. Si intende dunque indagare se i tratti di personalità, il narcisismo e il significato di vita possono offrire un contributo nel predire i livelli di burnout. Tramite l’analisi della letteratura sono state ottenute conoscenze per programmare interventi di supporto per i sacerdoti. I risultati mostrano come l’estroversione, la coscienziosità, l’amicalità e la possibilità di assegnare un significato alla propria missione rappresentano fattori di protezione nei confronti del burnout, mentre il nevroticismo, lo psicoticismo e le tendenze narcisistiche si configurano come importanti fattori di rischio.

Si ritiene dunque che tramite interventi terapeutici e di supporto mirati a rendere consapevoli i sacerdoti delle loro caratteristiche e a modificare atteggiamenti e comportamenti disfunzionali sia possibile ostacolare gli effetti di tale disturbo e promuovere il benessere psicofisico e l’efficienza lavorativa degli uomini di Chiesa
